Ice cubes are undersized, hollow, or misshaped
Small or hollow cubes almost always point to restricted water flow — a clogged water filter, low house water pressure, or a partially blocked inlet valve that isn’t filling the mold completely. We check flow rate at the valve, test the filter, and verify the fill time is within specification for your model.
Ice cubes fusing together in the bin
Clumping ice is typically a usage problem (ice sitting too long between uses) or a slow-fill issue that under-fills each cube, leaving them to bond as they freeze. It can also indicate the bin isn’t positioned correctly under the ejector arm. We verify cycle timing, fill volume, and bin seating to eliminate the cause.
Icemaker leaking water into the freezer or onto the floor

Why did my icemaker stop making ice?

Start with water: a frozen fill tube, a failed inlet valve, or a supply issue starves the mold. Then the module itself. We test the water path first because that is where most no-ice calls end — and those are quick, inexpensive repairs.

Why are my ice cubes small, hollow, or fused together?

Small or hollow cubes mean the mold is under-filling — low water pressure, a clogged filter, or a partially blocked fill tube. Fused cubes usually mean ice sitting too long from a slow fill cycle. We check pressure and flow, not just the filter.

Is it worth repairing an icemaker or should I replace it?

Almost always repair. Most icemaker fixes run $125 to $300 — valves, fill tubes, and modules are among the least expensive appliance parts. Replacing a whole refrigerator over an icemaker makes no sense, and we will tell you that plainly.
